Going green
Amy Myers, a volunteer for the Green Party of Butte County, shares information with Farmers’ Market-goer Steven Whitby II. Myers is among several local Green Party members trying to get signatures to land Ralph Nader on the 2004 Presidential ballot. In order to be successful they will need 210,000 signatures statewide by Aug. 6. The signatures will be collected as a backup in case Nader isn’t endorsed at the Green Party Convention in Milwaukee, Wis., held later this month. "Nader is representing young voters who don’t know where they fit with the two-party system," says Marybeth Wuerthner, a councilmember for the Butte County Greens. "So many people vote out of fear, rather than with their conscience."
