Giving thanks—and more

As we sit down before the groaning board this Thanksgiving, we should take a moment to remember that, according to the USDA, as many as 35 million of our fellow Americans are living with what is known as food insecurity, meaning they don’t always have enough food to meet their nutritional needs. Of them, more than 12 million experience outright hunger with that food insecurity.

The nation’s food banks are an important resource in alleviating food insecurity and hunger. A good way we can give thanks is by donating food items through our churches or a local relief agency. For a complete list of such agencies, go to www.helpcentral.org.

Happy Thanksgiving to all our readers. We’re grateful for your support.
