Red Bluff man is expected to survive 43 stab wounds
The Chico Police Department is investigating a brutal gang-related assault in which a Red Bluff man was stabbed 43 times in the upper body and neck.
According to a CPD press release, the attack happened in the wee hours of Sunday morning. The 20-year-old unnamed victim was in town with friends to check out the party scene and were walking around in the neighborhoods south of Chico State. The assault took place as the men were walking near West Fifth and Ash streets, just a few blocks west of Walnut Street.
CPD says the victim was jumped by several young Hispanic men who had exited a four-door white pick-up truck. The primary suspect is a Hispanic man in his early 20s with a heavy build. He was wearing a white T-shirt and a bandana over his face and shouted gang threats before and during the attack. The victim is expected to survive.
A brown Oldsmobile Cutlass may also be involved in the incident. Anyone with info into the case is asked to contact the CPD at 895-4911.
