From Nobel to mogul?
Hot off his Nobel Prize win, former Vice President Al Gore is again making news, this time for joining a prestigious Silicon Valley venture capitalist group.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported last week that the 59-year-old environmentalist will serve in an advisory role as a partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. He will help choose the most promising green technology startups on which the Bay Area firm plans to spend a third of its $600 million investment fund.
Gore, who primarily lives in Tennessee, also keeps a residence in San Francisco. He reportedly will be donating his salary to the Alliance for Climate Protection, a nonprofit advocacy group aimed at fighting global warming.
