Franz Ferdinand
Franz Ferdinand
It’s no wonder that Franz Ferdinand’s eponymous debut LP has been on Rolling Stone’s “Buy These Now” list of great albums for the last few issues. The quartet from England creates that rare breed of music that is so danceable and enjoyable that it won’t leave your stereo for weeks. “The Dark of the Matinee” is the perfect example of everything that is wonderful about Franz Ferdinand—an infectiously catchy chorus, simple lyrics and syncopated beats reminiscent of when dance-punk was actually good. “Auf Achse” and “This Fire” also stand out as single potentials with their shiny guitars and old-school Brit-pop feel. For once a band that deserves the good press.
