Anonymous donation of $1 million goes to children in need

Chico-based North Valley Community Foundation recently received an anonymous $1 million donation, which the nonprofit has earmarked to help children in need.

The huge windfall provided seed money for the Chico Children’s Endowment Fund, the purpose of which is to bolster services, fund advocacy and provide access to resources for children growing up in physically or emotionally adverse conditions, according to a blog post on the organization’s website.

NVCF is encouraging community organizations aimed at helping children living in vulnerable housing situations to apply for the Youth Development Grant Program made possible by the endowment fund. Grants ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 will be awarded based on demonstrated results and project needs. Applications can be submitted online through April 30 at www.nvcf.org.
