Locals gather supplies, money for fire victims
As the Valley Fire and other wildfires continue to ravage the North State, a number of locals are mobilizing relief efforts.
The Tackle Box began collecting donations for displaced victims on Tuesday (Sept. 15). They are looking for supplies including winter clothes, blankets, diapers and cellphones. A list of the most needed items can be found on the Tackle Box's Facebook page. On the Ridge, supply donations are being collected at Riebes Auto Parts on Clark Road.
Chico-based Tri Counties Bank started a Valley Relief Fire Fund Monday (Sept. 14) with a $10,000 donation. The bank is encouraging people to deposit donations into the fund at any branch or through a link on its website (www.tcbk.com).
As of press time Wednesday morning, the Valley Fire had burned 70,000 acres in Lake and Napa counties, displacing 13,000 people.
