Plenty of animals at BHS still need homes

Butte Humane Society in Chico is nearing the final days of a campaign to find homes for its adoptable animals by the end of the year. As of Tuesday, Dec. 21, the shelter had placed 89 of the 125 dogs, cats, bunnies and guinea pigs that were living in the shelter as of Dec. 1. Plenty of animals still need homes. In fact, the shelter has taken in an unusually high number of cats this winter. In response, BHS has launched the “Name Your Price” special, which allows residents to adopt cats and kittens for a fee of their choosing. The special is ongoing until crowding is alleviated. Lori Wells, the BHS communication and outreach associate, introduced the CN&R to several nice pets up for adoption this week. One of them, 1 1/2-year-old Kisses, is the shelter’s longest resident.
