Federal funds awarded to hundreds of nation’s health centers
Under the auspices of the federal Affordable Care Act, funding has been awarded to 810 community health centers across the nation, including $55,000 to each of 88 centers in California.
The grants will help the health centers, including Yuba City-based Ampla Health, which has a Chico branch at 680 Cohasset Road, become patient-centered medical homes—“designed to improve quality of care through better coordination, treating the many needs of the patient at once, increasing access and empowering the patient to be a partner in their own care,” according to an Ampla Health press release.
The funding will also be used to aid Ampla Health’s efforts to increase the percentage of women screened for cervical cancer.
