Feather Falls chills out, gets award
Clever cooling system pays off
Feather Falls Casino & Lodge has been recognized for its installation of a cutting-edge, environmentally friendly cooling system, according to a casino press release.
In late October, the casino was awarded the California Trane High Performance Building Showcase Award for installing a CALMAC Ice Storage System, a cooling technology that generates ice during off-peak hours. The ice then melts throughout the day to keep buildings cool. The casino implemented the technology in May and saw a 13 percent decrease in energy costs during peak summer months.
The system also qualifies the casino for PG&E’s Shift & Save energy-saving program, which offers incentives for companies to cut back on energy use. The energy giant gave the casino a rebate check for about $190,000.
