Redding mother and daughter accused of defrauding welfare department
Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey is going after two Redding women he alleges defrauded the Butte County Welfare Department.
According to a press release from the DA’s office, Garnett Ann Garrison, 56, and her daughter, Gaylee Ann Garrison, 29, have stolen about $190,000 from the welfare department’s In Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program between January 2007 and April 2010. The women allegedly were falsely claiming they worked for the program, which pays workers to help care for the elderly and disabled, allowing them to stay in their homes.
District-attorney investigators allege that the elder Garrison, as a manager of a company that hired IHSS workers for the program, devised a complex way of falsifying time cards and other records to steal money. Her daughter worked for the company.
A preliminary hearing in the case is set for December.
