Election results are in
Preliminary Chico City Council standings remain unchanged
The incumbents in the race for Chico’s City Council could breathe a little easier as of Monday (Nov. 22), after the Butte County Clerk-Recorder’s Office released its semi-official election results.
Candidates Scott Gruendl and Mary Flynn have held their winning positions, according to tallies of provisional and absentee ballots. Their status has been in limbo since the Nov. 2 election with three seats up for grabs. Mark Sorensen, who took an early lead, solidified his first-place finish with 13,225 votes.
Gruendl, who will serve a third term on the panel, came in second with 10,717 votes. Flynn, who is now headed into her second term, trailed him with 10,447 votes, just 127 votes ahead of Bob Evans.
Flynn is celebrating in Paris. She checked results online after a stroll along the Saint-Germain-des-Prés. “I feel honored to have been re-elected by the people of Chico and I look forward to serving the community for another term,” she reports by e-mail.
