Downtown Jerry Brown This article was published on 11.04.10 Supporters flooded both the upstairs and downstairs of the historic Phoenix Building downtown as Jerry Brown’s campaign trail wound through Chico on Halloween morning. Brown, now the governor-elect, talked about his experience in politics, including starting the California Conservation Corps. He also highlighted his roots in Northern California, noting he’s a cattle rancher and that his grandmother is buried in the Williams Cemetery. She was born on the family ranch in 1878, he said, and lived long enough to see him win the Democratic nomination for governor in 1974. “We Browns live a long time, so I might have a few more offices to run for,” he said jokingly, before quickly adding: “For the record, I don’t really think that.”PHOTO BY ALAN SHECKTER More Local Stories » News Pic The bold and the beautiful College students strip down for the second annual Undie Run clothing fundraiser.
