Don’t kill Fido
Foods you should not feed your pets
As natural as it might be to drop that pork-chop bone onto the floor for the dog, know that you are risking your pet’s life if you do. Both dogs and cats can choke on bone chunks, and fragments can potentially block or cut up their digestive system. Plus the fat can cause an upset stomach and, in dogs, lead to pancreatitis. The folks at WebMD have a whole section devoted to pet health, and their lists of foods that dogs and cats should never eat range from the outright poisonous (Macadamia nuts for dogs) to the just plain unhealthful (salty treats for any pet). If you suspect your pet has ingested something harmful, contact the Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435.
