Dems open HQ in Chico
Plan to focus on voter registration
While there hasn’t been a peep from the Republican Party, Democrats in Butte County are gearing up for election season by opening their headquarters in downtown Chico this week.
“We really want to get this going; it’s so exciting,” said Erin Sheffield, Butte County team coordinator for CD2 for Obama (CD2 is short for Second Congressional District). “People have been dropping off donations all week—they’ve been amazing.”
CD2 for Obama will fill 600 Main St., along with the Democratic Action Club and Chico Democrats. By fusing the groups and creating a Democratic headquarters, efforts can be spread out to cover congressional and City Council candidates as well.
“And we’re going to be doing a lot of voter registration before Oct. 22,” Sheffield added.
The Dems will celebrate the grand opening of their new home Saturday (July 12) with live music, a guest speaker, and community potluck. Everyone is invited and asked to bring a snack or beverage to share.
