Dementia center begins construction
A 58-bed facility in north Chico to be completed next year
Ground was broken on Nov. 8 on the empty lot on the corner of The Esplanade and Amber Grove Drive in north Chico, that will become the new home of the Amber Grove Memory Care Community.
The planned 35,000-square-foot, $10 million facility will treat patients with dementia, according to a press release. Fifty-eight private beds will be divided among four separate “neighborhoods,” and a central Care Center will house a family meeting area, kitchen, laundry facility and staff offices. Construction will be supervised by Anthem Memory Care based in Lake Oswego, Ore.
The center, set be completed sometime next year, will hire 30 to 40 full-time employees once open and about 300 local contractors during construction.
