AquAlliance sues DWR over Oroville spillway documents
Seeking access to Oroville Dam reports, the Chico-based advocacy group AquAlliance has sued the California Department of Water Resources, citing violations of public records law.
AquAlliance filed suit in state court last Friday (June 9). The nonprofit said in a press release that it filed a Public Records Act request April 9 for documentation related to asbestos, which it says was uncovered during a break in the main spillway. Both the main spillway and emergency spillway failed in February.
According to the press release, DWR released nine documents in response to the request and said it had nothing else not protected by attorney-client privilege.
