CUSD election: from two to a handful
School board field expands as filing comes to a close
The Chico school board election won’t be a coronation after all. Following weeks with just two candidates for the two open seats, the field stood at five on deadline day (Aug. 13) as the CN&R went to press.
Jjon Mohr and board President Jann Reed filed their paperwork late last month. Joining them on the campaign trail will be David Pollak, identified on the Butte County Registrar site as a sales manager; Elizabeth Griffin, school readiness coordinator; and Zane Schreder, school project manager.
Meanwhile, Butte County Democratic Party Chairman Justin Meyers finds himself in a crowded field for the Paradise school board. Incumbents Donna Nichols and Gary Manwill are running again; the three-seat race also includes retired teachers Tom Conry and Jim Westmoreland, retired engineer Glenn Stankis and parents Judith Peters and Lisa Nelson.
