Crop swappin’

Trade excess produce for others you’re craving

Have you planted tons of zucchini and run out of neighbors to give them to? Yet, maybe you forgot to plant some green beans.

Here’s an idea: Take those extra veggies—or fruit—and exchange them for other edibles at Chico’s seasonal gardeners’ swap meets.

Sponsored by the Chico Food Network, the weekly meets are free community-building events held from 6-8 p.m. every Wednesday at a variety of locations. The Chico Peace and Justice Center (526 Broadway) is the host during the second and third Wednesdays of the month, which includes the next, June 17. For a full schedule of locations, visit www.chicofoodnetwork.org.

If you can’t make it on Wednesday, you’ll find a swap table at the year-round Chapmantown Food and Fitness Festival at the Chapman Elementary School parking lot between 2-6 p.m. every Friday.
