Creek crossing

Construction of the Bikeway 99 bike and pedestrian bridge running over Little Chico Creek will be completed today (Nov. 1), barring unforeseen delays.

The bridge—which is south of Humboldt Road., north of Teichert Ponds and east of Highway 99—is part of the existing seven-mile, north-to-south Bikeway 99, according to a City of Chico press release. Funding for the project, including newly rebuilt sections of the bike path paralleling Humboldt Road, was provided by a $721,000 federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality grant.

Chico Mayor Ann Schwab said the bridge “provides a critical link to many destinations throughout the city and confirms our dedication to advancing a sustainable, multi-modal transportation system.”
