Jason Statham (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and The Transporter) stars as Chev Chelios, a hit man who has made the mistake of sparing his last mark and trying to retire. Not a good move. He awakes the next morning to find himself fatally juiced with a drug that will immediately snuff him the second his heart rate slows down. What ensues is a near real-time delirium of outrageous misfortune for anyone fool enough to get in his way as he burns up the streets of Los Angeles in his quest to kill his killers. Sure, it’s a knockoff of the old film noir classic DOA , but it is also a wildly entertaining pitch-black comedy for nihilists with a tweaked sense of humor, in which severed limbs fly, parakeets explode and Chinatown residents cheer as Chev finally manages to rise to the occasion. Booyah.
