County appoints CAO

Shari McCracken has served as interim CAO since November, and deputy CAO since 2005

The Butte County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday (April 24) voted unanimously to appoint Shari McCracken as chief administrative officer, effective immediately. She’d served in an interim capacity since November, when former CAO Paul Hahn announced his retirement.

McCracken (pictured) is an alumna of Chico State and had served as deputy CAO for Butte County since 2005. Board chair Steve Lambert called her “the natural choice” for the position.

“I am excited to continue working with our dedicated team, identifying innovative solutions to address the service needs of our residents and enhance our communities, while maintaining fiscal stability for the county,” McCracken said in a press release.
