Congratulations, Mr. President!
Paul Zingg gets hitched during private ceremony
Chico State President Paul Zingg confirmed this week that he and girlfriend Yasuko Hartley were married in downtown Chico last Friday, July 22.
Mayor Ann Schwab, who wrote the vows and provided decorations, including flowers and a rug, officiated the nuptials at the Old Municipal Building. Hartley’s two grown daughters, Chiyo and Sachi, were the only attendees at the private ceremony. A small reception took place afterward at a downtown fine-dining restaurant.
The couple are currently honeymooning in central Oregon. In an e-mail, Zingg said he met Hartley, who has served as a consultant on Japanese culture, two years ago at a golf tournament.
“We will have a big party in the fall for our friends and families and the Chico community,” Zingg wrote. “So we are very happy, and both Chico State and the city of Chico community now have someone who loves both. And me!”
