A select list of films shot in Butte County:

The Siege at Ruby Ridge (1996)
Starring Randy Quaid and Laura Dern. Filmed all over the county, from Concow to Chico, this CBS mini-series recreated the controversial siege on white-separatist Randy Weaver’s Idaho compound by federal agents in 1992.

Stolen Innocence (1995)
Local actress Amanda Detmer’s first taste of the big time started alongside former Growing Pains child actor Tracey Gold in this CBS movie of the week. The awesome shootout scene at the Thunderbird Lodge/Golden Waffle was a highlight.

The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976)
Clint Eastwood starred in and directed this famous tale of vengeance shot in Oroville.

The Chase (1966)
The original version (not the Charlie Sheen/Henry Rollins remake) of this prison break-turned-manhunt was shot in the Chico area. Starring Hollywood giants Marlon Brando, Jane Fonda, Robert Redford and Angie Dickenson.

Gone With the Wind (1939)
The famous Civil War romance starring Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh was partially filmed in Bidwell Park, Paradise and the Richardson Springs Resort.

The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938)
Errol Flynn’s most famous of Robin Hoods was filmed all over Bidwell Park. Wander up the north side of Big Chico Creek past the Hwy 99 bridge, and you can’t miss the big open Robin Hood Glade. Chico went so far as to honor Warner Brothers’ presence by changing the north end of Ivy Street into Warner Street.
