New program allows some Butte College students to take university courses at no extra cost
The presidents of Chico State University and Butte College have announced a new cross-enrollment program that will allow some Butte students to enroll in a three-unit course at Chico State with no extra fees.
University President Paul Zingg and Butte College President Diana Van Der Ploeg introduced the new program at a press conference Friday (Sept. 5) at the Butte College Chico Center. The program’s goal, they said, is to make transferring easier, increase educational choices, and familiarize Butte students with Chico State.
To enroll, students must have completed a year’s worth of courses (30 semester units or the equivalent) with a GPA of 2.0; be taking a minimum of 12 units; show proof of completion of class prerequisites if required; and have completed an Area A writing composition class with a grade of “C” or better and demonstrated progress in mathematics.
