Chico High gets arts grant
Choral, musical theater director selected as Freddie G Fellow
Chico High’s choral and musical theater programs will receive a $5,000 boost next school year after Director Jenise Coon was named one of eight Freddie G Fellows, an honor created by Music Theatre International CEO Freddie Gershon, and his wife, Myrna.
Coon is in New York City this week for four days of master classes, workshops and Broadway shows with industry professionals, including Tony Award-winning composer-lyricist Jeanine Tesori and Tony-nominated director Jeff Calhoun.
“I hope to bring back new methods, new ideas, fresh and inspired activities and new ways to go about producing a musical,” Coon said via Facebook message.
