In a sunset ceremony that went a bit quicker than expected, Chico City Councilman Scott Gruendl wed longtime partner Nicholas Goodey Saturday (Sept. 20) at Tuscan Ridge Golf Course.
Gruendl (pictured, left), Glenn County’s public health director, and Goodey have been together 14 years and made their relationship public during Gruendl’s term as mayor (2004-06). In light of Proposition 8, a November ballot initiative that would ban same-sex marriage, the couple opened their wedding to media members and got featured on KHSL/KNVN newscasts.
