Charity in fashion
Donated proceeds from last year’s The Celebration total $40,000
Back in October, the CN&R previewed The Celebration, an annual charity fashion show coinciding with Breast Cancer Awareness Month at which cancer survivors are models escorted by local firefighters. Now, the proceeds will benefit patients at Enloe Regional Cancer Center.
The Celebration Foundation will present a check for $40,000 to the Enloe Foundation today (March 5). The money will primarily go toward the transportation needs of cancer patients, according to Christina Chavira, Enloe’s communications specialist. In the past, the funds have also been used for overnight stays for out-of-area patients who have received chemotherapy treatments and can’t safely travel home that night, and necessities such as ostomy supplies and bandages for outpatients who can’t afford those items.
