Celebrating solar energy
Second annual SolarDay celebrated by cities around nation
Last Saturday (June 19), residents of Chico and more than 25 U.S. cities participated in the second annual SolarDay, an international event that brings awareness to the importance of sustainable energy independence, according to SolarDay.com, the event’s official website.
Events were held in communities throughout the country, including many California cities such as Redding, Sacramento and Santa Rosa. In Chico, AES Solar hosted a free solar-installation tour at North Rim Adventure Sports for residents interested in incorporating solar power into their homes.
SolarDay began in 2009 in San Francisco to highlight the importance of advancing technologies that support clean and renewable energy.
