Caught with his pants down

A little girl got more than she bargained for when she took a dip in one of the hot tubs at In Motion Fitness two weeks ago. Unbeknownst to the gym—or even the city of Chico, according to a press release—an unregistered sex offender had made his home here, and he allegedly flashed the 8-year-old girl, who told her mother about the incident.

After reviewing video surveillance, Chico police officers identified 46-year-old Petru Radu as their suspect. They arrested him several days later in a downtown coffee shop.

The police say Radu was convicted of indecent exposure in San Jose in 1998 and registered in Arizona last year but failed to let California authorities know when he moved to Chico six months ago.

Radu was charged with felony indecent exposure with priors and for failing to register as a sex offender.
