Cab it to the polls

Chicoans considering not voting on Election Day (Nov. 8) now have one fewer excuse. Liberty Cab announced earlier this week that it will be offering free rides to and from polling places within Chico city limits.

“I don’t think access to transportation should bar anyone from exercising their right to vote,” owner Gianni Caponera said in a statement. “And it shouldn’t cost anything to make your vote count.”

Those interested can call Liberty Cab at 898-1776 and let the dispatcher know they need a ride to a polling place. The press release asks customers to be patient in case of lengthy wait times. Caponera assures riders that neither Liberty nor its drivers will be endorsing any candidates or issues.
