Chico police Chief Mike Maloney has announced changes in his department, including hiring Kirk Trostle as Support Division captain.

Trostle (pictured), currently chief of the Oroville Police Department, is a veteran with more than 20 years of service in law enforcement. He begins his new assignment on Feb. 16.

Among additional changes, Maloney announced that Sgt. Dave Britt will be in charge of the grant-funded TARGET team aimed at addressing chronic neighborhood and quality-of-life issues in four areas of Chico: downtown, south Chico, west Chico (including south campus) and north Chico.
