Butte College chief moving on
Diana Van Der Ploeg announces her plan to retire
Diana Van Der Ploeg will bid adieu to her post at Butte College come summertime.
The community college’s president announced her retirement plans early this week in a press release, which also highlighted the campus’ many strides during her eight-year tenure. Among them is the establishment of the Veterans’ Resource Center, the Culture and Community Center and the Call Center.
Additionally, Van Der Ploeg (pictured) noted that the college has kept its promise to the voters regarding Measure A by constructing or remodeling seven major buildings, such as the Chico Center and the Arts Center.
Butte College’s chief also has been a staunch advocate for the environment, and helped the campus achieve national recognition for its sustainability efforts. “We became intentional about our relationship with our environment and one another thereby being good role models for our students, and we helped others do the same,” she said.
