Bring the noise

Rarely does Chico attract experimental music artists from Europe, which is why you owe it to yourself to check out electronic disco/noise trio Chicks on Speed, who make a side-stop from their national tour with original Riot Grrl Kathleen Hanna’s Le Tigre. Originally an art project, the conceptual-minded Chicks are three art students from Munich who not only display unique fashion onstage (wearing colorful paper cut dresses or Saran Wrap and weaving music with performance-art routines), but also have fun with a potent mix of house and nihilistic industrial with nods to New Wave synth pop and punk aesthetics—all underpinned by exploratory themes of social and gender politics. Plus, did I mention they "have more faces than Cindy Sherman"?
