‘Bright Ideas’ and more
Fairview Elementary School in Orland is basking in the glow of solar savvy—plus some hot gifts from Pacific Gas & Electric. The school is one of 42 in Northern and Central California to receive a “Bright Ideas” grant, plus it just received its solar electric generator from last year’s application to PG&E’s Solar Schools program.
The $1,000 grant is for an Earth Day event May 18 with displays and activities on renewable energy. The generator, worth $25,000, is a 1.3 kilowatt system. Along with it, Fairview teachers will receive a solar curriculum and training.
