A homeless man whose body was found behind a Chico liquor store last month has been identified as Jesse Palomino, 34. The Butte County Coroner’s Office confirmed Palomino’s identity, but said his cause of death is pending autopsy results. A passerby discovered Palomino’s body near Duke’s Cork-’N-Bottle Shop on The Esplanade around 5 p.m. on May 16.
Palomino (pictured) was born in Chicago and raised in Porterville, according to an online obituary from Porterville funeral home Whitehurst Peters Loyd. He lived in Chico for six years and worked as a construction worker. He is survived by his son, Joseph.
