Bird’s hunt continues
Jim Nielsen evades citizen’s arrest by activist Don Bird
Don Bird will have to come up with a new plan to carry out his citizen’s arrest of Dist. 2 Assemblyman Jim Nielsen.
Activist Bird had planned to take the local politician into custody on a recent Saturday, during an annual Republican fundraiser in Red Bluff. According to The Sacramento Valley Mirror, however, Nielsen entered the event from the back door of the Veterans Hall, avoiding all contact with Bird.
His beef with Nielsen stems from allegations that the assemblyman does not live in the district he serves and that he lied when he registered to vote in Tehama County. The assemblyman cited a mobile home in Gerber as his residence when he ran for his seat, when he lived in Woodland, outside the district.
Bird was evidently unfazed by the setback: “It’s not over,” he told the Mirror.
