Big game ahead

Paradise High School football standout Jeff Maehl will be headed to the desert with his University of Oregon teammates in about a month to play Auburn University in the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) title game.

The showdown between the Ducks and Tigers—both undefeated—will take place in Glendale, Ariz., on Jan. 10. Oregon and Auburn are ranked No. 2 and No. 1, respectively, and the match-up is expected to be quite the battle.

Maehl (pictured) was interviewed for a Nov. 25 CN&R Newsline, “Star in the making,” by Vic Cantu during a quick trip home the week before Thanksgiving. Since then, the team has taken down both the University of Arizona and Oregon State.

The Ducks’ receiver helped take his team to the championship by scoring 12 touchdowns during the regular season. Fans can watch the national championship on ESPN. For more info, visit www.goducks.com.
