Bienvenidos a Mi Escuelita Maya This article was published on 10.18.07 KORNER MARKET REMADEMembers of a Mexican folkloric dance troupe from Parkview Elementary School were among the more than 100 people who turned out Saturday (Oct. 13) for the grand opening of Mi Escuelita Maya ("Maya’s Little School"), a gleaming new preschool and performing arts academy in south Chico. Chico Mayor Andy Holcombe cut the ribbon. Built out of the shell of the former Korner Market, at 15th and Chestnut streets, the school has two large classrooms, a kitchen and a huge dance floor. Built by Robin Trenda and co-owned (with Benita Humble) by his wife, Maria, it is named after their 3-year-old daughter.
