Better view at Lookout Point
After years of inaction, while locals continued to use it as a suicide site, Lookout Point on the Skyway is finally about to become a vista point suitable for resting and enjoying the view, not barreling over the cliff.
The Butte County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday (April 8) approved plans for constructing the site and putting it out to bid. Included in the project is the removal of more than 50 wrecked vehicles located below the bluff.
“This project will not only protect the lives of Butte County residents, but also enhance the beauty of the area and allow visitors to better appreciate Butte Creek Canyon,” Supervisor Kim Yamaguchi, whose district encompasses the Ridge, said in a press release.
The project is expected to be completed this summer.
