Beerfest

A throwback to the days when an R-rating in a comedy meant that every female cast member would lose her top at any given opportunity. Hooray for boobies! Of course, this being another vehicle for the Broken Lizards comedy troupe, what would one expect? The good news is that it’s a lot more amusing than Club Dread. The bad news is that it is nowhere near as inspired as Super Troopers. It falls comfortably in between, as the boys gear up to take on the Germans in an über-secret drinking competition held during the Oktoberfest in Munich. Think Fight Club with belching instead of blood. And speaking of belching, if you’ve ever been curious as to what a belch would sound like if it pushed the limits of the THX technology, Broken Lizard is more than happy to illustrate. It is in a very odd way inspiring. While some of the jokes at times are a little, um, flat, there’s still more than enough that deliver.
