Back in town

Enloe Medical Center CEO Debi Yancer is back in Chico after being injured and undergoing emergency surgery following an accident Aug. 1 in San Diego, where she was enjoying a family reunion.

Yancer was swimming at La Jolla beach when she was caught by a wave and banged into the sand, causing two herniated disks in her neck. Following surgery, she was hospitalized at the Scripps Trauma Center.

She returned to Chico Wednesday and will spend several days at Enloe’s Rehabilitation Center, working from her bed, said hospital spokeswoman Laura Hennum.
