Azavedo makes the Olympic team

Chico’s favorite bobsledder, Emily Azevedo, was selected by the U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation to represent the United States as a member of the women’s bobsled team at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in February in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Push athlete/brakewoman Azevedo—a former Chico High and UC Davis track star—will team up with longtime teammate and sled driver Bree Schaaf, from Bremerton, Wash., in the USA III sled as it barrels down the track.

“We are thrilled to be sending our best U.S. women’s team ever to Whistler,” said U.S. Bobsled and Skeleton Federation CEO Darrin Steele in a recent press release.
