Auditor race still uncertain
Lead switches since election-night results, with 1,034 ballots left to count
Debra Lucero and Tami Ritter have grown more secure with their results from the June 5 election, but the contenders for Butte County auditor-controller will need to wait a few weeks to know their outcome based on the update released Monday (June 11) by Clerk-Recorder Candace Grubbs.
Lucero and Ritter, running for the county Board of Supervisors, each had her margin increase from the election night tally. Flipping the election night standings, Assistant Auditor-Controller Graciela Gutierrez now has a narrow lead over Chico city Accounting Manager Kathryn Mathes: just 223 votes, with 1,034 ballots to count. Grubbs has 30 days, until July 5, to certify final results.
