Jim Reed to run for state Assembly seat
Democrat Jim Reed (pictured) has joined the race for the 3rd District Assembly seat that will be vacated by Republican Dan Logue when he is termed out at the end of next year. Reed, a tax attorney who ran for Congress in 2010 and 2012, will face two Republican candidates in the June primary. Butte County farmer Ryan Schohr and Sutter County Supervisor James Gallagher have also announced plans to run.
Logue has told the Redding Record Searchlight that he is considering a run for the 3rd Congressional District seat currently held by Democrat John Garamendi.
In a press release announcing his candidacy, Reed said if elected he would push for “breaking California into two or more separate states, not only to provide more efficient local government, but to give Californians a greater voice in Washington.”
