Artistic nurse on the Ridge

A nurse at Feather River Hospital‘s Cancer Center has won multiple awards for a watercolor painting she submitted to the Lilly Oncology on Canvas 2012 art competition.

Charlotte Sweetland, RN, OCN, won third place overall, best entry from a health-care professional and best watercolor by a health-care professional for her entry “The Dance” (pictured), according to a Feather River Hospital press release. Sweetland was provided an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City to attend the award dinner; a $4,500 donation to a cancer-related charity was also made in her name.

Sweetland teaches the cancer center’s watercolor course, which is offered for free for cancer survivors and caregivers. Those interested in participating in the next course can contact the cancer center at 876-3157.
