Another day, another DUI
Two Chico Police officers awarded for prolific arrests of drunk drivers
Two Chico Police officers, Travis Johnsen and Ryon Mitchell, were honored for their work in arresting drunken drivers at a Tuesday (Aug. 18) luncheon in Redding.
The event, hosted by the California Office of Traffic Safety and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), recognized police officers in North State counties who have “gone above and beyond in their efforts to combat drunk driving,” according to a Chico Police Department press release. Johnsen made 73 DUI arrests in 2014 alone—and has made more than 1,000 such arrests in his career with the department—while Mitchell made 27 DUI arrests last year.
Both officers have been awarded multiple times for their work in removing impaired drivers from local roadways.
