Americans: Higher education too costly
A majority values that education, but says it’s unaffordable
According to a new survey, Americans overwhelmingly value higher education. Unfortunately, a vast majority view education as unaffordable. In a Gallup poll released last week, 72 percent of respondents said it was very important to have a certificate or degree beyond high school. Another 25 percent said it was somewhat important. Just 3 percent said it was not very important or not at all important. Meanwhile, when asked whether higher education is affordable for everyone who needs it, 74 percent of respondents answered no.
