Americans: Global warming is legit
Recent survey reveals 70 percent of U.S. residents believe it’s real
The number of people in the United States who still do not believe in climate change is dipping, according to the National Surveys on Energy and Environment. A report released last month by that organization revealed that at least 7 of 10 Americans believe there's solid evidence showing that global warming exists and has existed for the past 40 years. That's the second-highest percentage among respondents in the history of the twice-yearly survey (in 2008, 72 percent reported believing in the phenomenon). Interestingly, a majority of Republicans now believe in climate change. Here's how the percentages panned out from 2014 to 2015, by party affiliation:
