Oroville man charged with sexual assault of 2-year-old

An Oroville man is charged with sexually abusing a 2-year-old child, according to a press release from the Oroville Police Department.

Kenneth James Baker, 27, was allegedly watching the girl while her mother was preparing to give birth at an area hospital. The release says the girl showed bruising and other signs of physical abuse when she was picked up from Baker’s care. Further medical examination revealed she had also been sexually abused.

Baker was arrested last week (Jan. 13) at his mother’s residence in Oroville and is being held in Butte County Jail with bail set at $1.15 million. The OPD is asking anyone with information about the crime or knowledge of other possible victims to call 538-2448.
